Recovering your Zashi wallet

All funds from your Zashi wallet can be restored with your recovery phrase.

If you're migrating phones, reinstalling Zashi, or otherwise need to start fresh, ensure you have your Zashi recovery phrase.

If available, your wallet's block height (birthday) will be useful to ensure all funds are discovered and less time is spent syncing your wallet. You may also use the 'Estimate block height' feature to choose the year and month you created this wallet.

Restoring from your recovery phrase

From the first screen, tap 'Restore existing wallet'.

On the 'Restore' screen, enter the 24 words of your recovery phrase in the correct order. Do so only in a secure location, where other people and security cameras won't have view of your phrase.

While in a safe place, away from people and cameras, enter your recovery phrase.

Following this screen, input your wallet's birthday height. This is the number of Zcash network blocks that had been mined at the time of creating your wallet, and is displayed in the recovery phrase backup screen. Knowing it allows you to skip Zashi from having to look for funds on your wallet from before you first used your wallet, making for a faster sync process.

If you recorded the wallet birthday block height, enter it here.

If you don't have it, you can use the 'Estimate block height' feature to select the month you began using your wallet.

Choose the month during which you first used the wallet.

Choose whether you wish to enable Tor during syncing. This will enable greater network privacy, but come at the cost of speed when synchronising.

Tor confers greater privacy, but a slower sync.

Elect to keep your screen active while synchronising. Zashi will need to be open and your phone unlocked in order to actively sync.

Zashi will then sync, which will take some time depending on how long you've been using the wallet. When the syncing status widget disappears and your balance appears, your wallet will be synced and ready to use.
